When you combine solar energy with a home battery backup system, your solar panels charge the battery during the day. Your battery then powers your essentials when the sun is down or acts as a seamless backup even when the power grid is down. Home battery backups increase the resiliency of your home, can further reduce your utility bill, and put you on a path toward a zero-emissions home. Namaste Solar’s team of certified installers offers the best-in-class battery solutions for your whole home backup system.
And right now there are multiple incentives for home battery installations including the 30% federal tax credit, Xcel’s Renewable Battery Connect program, and additional local incentives.
Store the energy from your solar panels and use it anytime, even at night.
If the grid in your area loses power, your home energy needs will stay powered by the independent energy system.
With such a reliable system, you’ll never worry about the lights, the internet, or your refrigerator/freezer going out.
Home battery backups paired with solar requires no fuel or annual maintenance since it is charged by the sun.

During the day, the sun shines on your solar roof panels, powering your home. Any excess power from your panels during the day goes to charges your battery. At night, or whenever you program your system to discharge, your home will draw electricity from your battery, utilizing clean, renewable energy.rnrnIf the power goes out, your home battery backup will seamlessly kick in to power your home. Most home battery backup systems are not designed to support 100% of your home’s consumption when the grid is down but rather keep “essential” items online, such as your fridge, freezer, lights, and internet.
The price of home battery systems is based on how many batteries you want to install. You’ll need to consider which appliances you want to operate and how many hours you want to operate them, without recharging the system from the sun. The 30% tax credit is available for battery-only installations and battery + solar installations. Namaste Solar also offers zero-down, low-interest financing.rnrnAdditionally, for Colorado residents living within Xcel’s electricity grid, purchasing a battery can qualify you for Xcel’s Renewable Battery Connect incentive program, where you can save on both your battery installation and annually for your home’s participation in the program. And some battery purchases qualify for significant rebates in the cities of Denver and Fort Collins.rnrnOur non-commissioned advisors can review options with you and help you figure out which type of system will best fit your needs.
Namaste Solar has over 20 years of experience, installing over 13,500 solar arrays and designing nearly a thousand home battery storage systems. We take care of everything from system design to permitting, installation, financing, and ongoing customer service. When you choose Namaste Solar, you’re amplifying your impact by working with a company that is local, employee-owned, and a Certified B Corporation.
This depends on which battery you install, how many you choose to install, and what your energy usage is. Our battery options can act as a whole home backup at night or in the event of a grid outage for the backup duration. Conservative usage ensures that you can back up major appliances and other home essentials. Both the Enphase 5P and the Powerwall 3 system can back up 120 V loads (lights, plugs, small appliances) and 240 V loads (air conditioners, electric cooking ranges, well pumps, EV chargers, electric dryers, electric water heaters).
Colorado homeowners are eligible for many battery storage rebates including the 10% state tax credit, 30% federal tax credit, and other incentives through Xcel, Fort Collins Utility, and the city of Denver. These rebates can be stacked and can bring down the cost of a home battery backup significantly for most homeowners. To get a complete breakdown of home battery rebates, check out this blog.
Yes. All solar systems installed by Namaste Solar are grid-tied. This means that your solar panels and home battery are connected to the local utility grid. Yes. All solar systems installed by Namaste Solar are grid-tied. This means that your solar panels and home battery are connected to the local utility grid. Being grid-tied allows your system to seamlessly integrate with the local power grid when needed.
Additionally, in the Colorado Front Range, Xcel Energy requires that a battery storage system be connected to a solar system to receive permission to operate. This regulatory requirement ensures that the battery storage is used in tandem with solar generation, helping stabilize the grid and make it more efficient. It also ensures that you benefit from both solar energy production and the ability to store energy for use during non-sunny periods or power outages. So, if you have a home battery backup system installed, it is part of a grid-tied solar system, designed to work with and improve the local utility infrastructure.
Yes. The Enphase 5P batteries are the first microinverter-based storage system to meet the performance criteria of UL 9540A – a unit-level test for thermal runaway fire propagation protection in residential indoor wall-mounted systems. And the Tesla Powerwall 3 has safer battery chemistry than its predecessor since it’s made out of lithium, nickel, and cadmium.
Colorado Front Range customers who are in utility territory, like Xcel, can only install battery storage with solar. Since the systems are grid-tied, the utility provider has the final say and most won’t approve battery storage without solar. Additionally, if you’re considering a Tesla solar inverter, it’s important to note that the unit works specifically with Tesla solar panels. The inverter converts the DC electricity generated by the solar panels into AC electricity for use in your home, so both solar panels and the solar inverter are needed for proper operation.
The Tesla Powerwall 3 offers several upgrades over the Powerwall 2 in capacity, efficiency, and design. The Powerwall 3 has a larger storage capacity of 15.5 kWh compared to the Powerwall 2’s 13.5 kWh, and it provides a higher continuous power output of 7 kW versus the 5 kW of the Powerwall 2. Efficiency has also improved; the Powerwall 3 has a round-trip efficiency of about 92%, which is better than the Powerwall 2’s 90%. In terms of design, the Powerwall 3 features a more streamlined look with dimensions of approximately 48 x 30 x 6 inches, making it a bit larger than the Powerwall 2 but designed for easier installation and a more aesthetically pleasing look.rnrnIn addition to these performance enhancements, the Powerwall 3 incorporates advanced integration features. It offers improved software for better energy management and expanded home backup capabilities. Unlike the Powerwall 2, which requires a separate gateway for system management, the Powerwall 3 integrates more components into a single unit, simplifying the installation process. Both models come with a 10-year warranty, but the Powerwall 3’s updated technology and improved durability suggest it may offer more reliability in the long run. These advancements make the Powerwall 3 our most suggested option for those looking to invest in home energy storage.
