NUMBER OF METERS

The number of electrical meters feeding your building can affect the PV system design. If you want to install a PV system that would overload one of your AC breaker panels (and it's associated meter) then the energy from the PV system can be backfed to more than one breaker/meter if they are available.

Currently, Xcel Energy will pay the $4.50/watt incentive for 10 kW of solar tied into each meter on a building. Thus, if the building has four meters, one could theoretically install 40 kW of solar PV and receive the full $4.50/watt up-front rebate for the entire system. This scenario does require some additional paperwork, but we will walk you through every step of the way.
